Garden waste collection

Register for 2025 / 2026 garden waste collections

Garden waste registration is open and will close at 2pm on 29 May 2026.

The 2025 to 2026 service runs from 3 November 2025 to 1 November 2026.

How to register

You need to sign in or register with mygov.scot myaccount to register for the garden waste service. This allows you to track your garden waste subscriptions.

An annual Direct Debit is the easiest way to register which automatically renews your subscription every year. The first payment will be taken within 7 days of you registering. Future payments will be taken on or shortly after 1 August each year.

If you are a customer with a one off subscription, you can sign up to pay by Direct Debit for the next service year. If you would like to move to a Direct Debit subscription for the next service year call the customer contact centre on 0131 608 1100. Select option 1, then option 9. Please note that the initial payment for the next service year will be taken on or around 1 August.

The Garden waste sign up form times out after 10 minutes. Have your bank sort code and bank account ready before you begin.

By signing up you agree to our terms and conditions.

Annual Direct Debit payments will continue until you cancel your subscription or we have been unable to take payment. Find out .

If you move house you can transfer your permit.

Tenement addresses

If you live in a traditional tenement, with a numbering system like 1F1, 1F2, and so on, this is the format used when registering. The flat numbers follow the flow of the staircase for each floor. For example, 3F2 is 3rd floor, flat 2, which is the second flat from the stair.

Other ways to register

You can register for one collection year with a single card payment. You will need to register every year to continue receiving the service in future years.

Or call 0131 608 1100. Select option 1 then option 9.

Phone lines are open 10am to 4pm Monday to Thursday and 10am to 3pm on Fridays. They may be busy so please register online if you can. You can ask a family member, friend or neighbour to register and pay on your behalf online if you are unable to do it yourself. This will help you avoid long wait times on the phone.

It is not possible to register and pay at any of our offices, you must register and pay online or over the phone.

We do not accept cheques or cash.
